Saint Seiya: Who Was Stronger – Virgo or Gemini in The Lost Canvas?

The eternal debate between Asmita (Virgo) and Aspros (Gemini) in Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas mirrors the classic showdown between Saga and Shaka in the original series—a discussion with no definitive conclusion. While Saga and Shaka had their legendary confrontation, Asmita and Aspros never directly clashed, making their power comparison even more intriguing.

The Showdown at the Pope’s Chamber

During Aspros’ rebellion, four key figures were present: Aspros, Asmita, Deuteros, and Sage. Aspros confronted Sage, while Asmita faced Deuteros. Interestingly, no full-scale battle erupted. Sage was merely restrained by Aspros, and Asmita focused on breaking the Galaxian Illusion that Aspros had cast on Deuteros. The confrontation ended abruptly when Deuteros delivered a surprise blow that defeated Aspros.

This encounter reveals little about their relative strength. Deuteros’ victory doesn’t prove his superiority over Aspros, just as Asmita’s ability to counter the Galaxian Illusion doesn’t establish his dominance. However, Sage’s decision to deploy Asmita against Aspros and Deuteros hints at his high regard for Asmita’s capabilities, suggesting they were on par.

Battles Against the Specters

Aspros’ most formidable opponent was Kālvaka, the Star of Celestial Violence, while Asmita confronted Minos, the Star of Terrestrial Violence. These two Specters were among the strongest in Hades’ army, second only to the Twin Gods.

Kālvaka’s power was overwhelmingly dominant, putting Aspros at a severe disadvantage throughout their battle. Yet, Aspros’ use of the Another Dimension technique ultimately leveled the playing field. In contrast, Asmita’s fight against Minos appeared somewhat less strenuous, though no less epic.

The Verdict: Power vs. Grace

While both Gold Saints demonstrated extraordinary abilities, Aspros possessed a raw, commanding presence that Asmita lacked. Asmita’s strength lay in his serenity, wisdom, and spiritual mastery, whereas Aspros exuded an aura of relentless ambition and explosive power.

In the end, the question of who was stronger remains open to interpretation. However, if forced to choose, Aspros’ sheer force and strategic brilliance give him a slight edge in this timeless debate among Saint Seiya enthusiasts.
